About Kepo Spades

Kepo Spades is the classic Spades card game for four players in two teams, played with the Kepo deck. You are Kepo, and Mochi, sitting across from you, is your partner against Pip and Puff. Before each round, everyone bids how many tricks they think they'll win, or bids nil to win none at all. Everyone must follow suit if they can, spades beat every other suit, and spades can't be led until one has been played.

Your bid and Mochi's add up to your team's target. Make it and you score 10 points for every trick you bid, plus 1 for each extra trick (a bag). Miss it and you lose 10 for every trick you bid. A nil is worth 100 if it works and costs 100 if it doesn't, and every 10 bags costs 100. The first team to 300 wins. Your bid starts at what your hand looks worth, cards you can't play are dimmed, and the game is saved between rounds.

Tips

Count aces, kings with a card or two behind them, and high spades: that's most of your bid.
Short in a suit and holding spades? You can trump that suit, so add a trick for it.
Once your team has made its bid, play under the winning card: extra tricks become bags.
If Mochi bids nil, try to win the tricks Mochi would otherwise take.
